CTGIA 2012 FUNDRAISING DRIVE printer version

The FBI estimates that up to 80% of crime is committed by gang members. Many international and national gangs have spread to small and medium sized towns and cities across the United States. Gangs traditionally associated with the West Coast are now found in large numbers through out the country and membership in gangs has seen a recent dramatic rise in cities and correctional facilities after several years of decline. Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice agencies, parents, teachers, businesses and community groups must be aware and work together to keep our youth and communities safe and economically viable. Gangs and gang related crime contribute significantly to crime, fear and neighborhood decay.
The Connecticut Gang Investigators Association is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization made up of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice personnel dedicated to combating gangs and gang violence through networking, training, intelligence sharing and community outreach. We gather and disseminate raw intelligence to Law Enforcement and related Criminal Justice agencies. We provide training for Criminal Justice agencies, school staff, appropriate community groups, businesses, parents and youth on Gang awareness and to foster a safer community for all.
We are a non-profit organization, with no paid staff that relies on support from communities and organizations that believe as we do in a safer “gang free’ Connecticut.
